Hoverboard racer is a racing game for phones and web browsers. This page says what the game collects about you, why, where it goes, and how to delete it. "We" means the developer of Hoverboard racer, who decides what the game collects. To reach us, see Contact.
- You can play without an account. Then the game keeps nothing about you on our servers.
- With an account, we keep your email address, your player name, your races and progress, your friends and your settings, so that you can play with other players and on more than one device.
- No ads. No tracking across other apps or websites. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
- You can delete your account, and everything in it, in the game at any time.
Playing without an account
You do not need an account to play against the bots. Your settings and your best times then stay on your device only.
Your device still connects to our servers to show the race boards, and in a web browser to load the game. Like every website, these servers see your device's IP address and the name of its browser for each request. We do not store them in the game's own data.
What we collect with an account
| Data | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Your email address, your password (stored only as a scrambled hash, never as text) and your player name. | To log you in, and to show your name to other players. Your email address is used only to log you in. |
| Races and progress | For each race: the map, your place, your times, the laps, your tricks, the items you used and hit with, how many racers and players there were, and the game version. Your XP, level, Sparks, the items you bought with Sparks or won in crates, and your titles. | For the race boards, your ranks, your level and your locker. |
| Friends and parties | Your friends and friend requests. While you play, other logged-in players can see that you are online and whether you are in a party. Invites to a party. | To play with friends. |
| Settings | Your rider's look, your board, your title, your best times on each map, and the sound and vibration switches. | So that they follow you to another device. |
| Device security key | Each device you log in on makes a key. We keep its public part with your account. | So that other players' games can check that party messages from you really come from you. |
| Usage log | For each session: the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), the family of its operating system and browser, the size class of its screen, its language, the game version, and how long the game was on screen. Events: races finished, searches for other players, connection trouble, party and friend actions, and error reports (the error and where in the game's code it happened, with addresses, emails and ids taken out). | To find and fix bugs, and to see how the game is played. |
| Limits | When you last searched for a player, sent a friend request or an invite, or searched for a race. | To stop abuse of those features. |
| Session details | The IP address and browser name of each device that is logged in, which our database provider keeps with the log-in. | To keep you logged in, and for security. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or any advertising id. The game has no chat.
What other players see
Your player name, your rider, your board, your title, your level, your race times on the boards, your ranks, your race statistics, when you made the account and when you last raced are public in the game. Other logged-in players see when you are online.
What stays on your device
The game keeps these in your browser's or the app's storage on your device: your log-in, your settings and best times, the map you picked, races that wait to be uploaded, the items marked new in your locker, the device security key, and a note that you saw the sign-up card. The game sets no cookies.
Who handles the data for us
- Supabase runs our database, the accounts and the live updates of the game. Our database is in the European Union, in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Cloudflare hosts the game's website and runs the relay that passes the positions of the boards between the players of a live race. The relay keeps nothing.
- Apple and Google deliver the app if you install it from the App Store or Google Play, under their own privacy policies. If you agreed in your phone's settings to share app diagnostics with developers, they may pass crash reports of the app to us.
Supabase and Cloudflare keep logs of the requests they serve, with IP addresses, for a short time. Nobody else gets your data from us. Data that goes between your device and these services is encrypted.
How long we keep it
- Your account and its data: until you delete the account.
- The usage log: 21 days. After that, only daily totals are kept (for example, how many races were run that day), and they do not name you. The days on which you played stay with your account until you delete it.
- Limits: they count for one hour. Older ones go the next time you use that feature, or with the account.
- Session details: until you log out on that device, or delete the account.
- Backup copies that our database provider may keep expire on their own after a short time.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the game at any time: open your account in the lobby, then select DELETE ACCOUNT. The account and everything in it are deleted at once. If you cannot log in, you can ask us by email. The page Delete your account gives the steps.
Your rights
You can see and change your player name in the game, and delete your account there. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The game is not made for children under 13. If you are under 13, do not make an account. If we learn that a child under 13 made one, we delete it.
Changes
If what the game collects changes, we update this page and its date first.
